Sleeping with Ward CleaverSleeping With Ward Cleaver

By: Jenny Gardiner

Wham, Bam, no-thank-you, ma’am.

That about sums up the sex life of Claire Doolittle. Not-so-happily married to Jack – once the man of her dreams but now a modern-day version of the bossy, dull Ward Cleaver of ’50’s sitcom fame- Clair is at the end of her rope. Gone ar the glorious days of flings in elevators and broom closets. Jack? All he needs is a cardigan and a billowing pipe to become the domineering father figure Claire never wanted. And looking at her body in the mirror, Claire would cast herself as Lumpy. They’d once had a world of color, a wanton frivolity. NOw, life’s blac and white: a sitcom in reruns. A not-very-funny sitcom. Cue an old boyfriend – the “one that got away” – throw in a predatory hotties who’s set her sights on our leading man, and watch Claire’s wold spiral out of control.

In the old TV show, the Beaver always got a happy ending.

Stay Tuned.

WHen I first got this book I was not sure it was my type of book. Yes I read all types of books but this really just did not get my goat. After the first page I was hooked. Claire is living the life so many of us moms are living. The marriage is not near as exciting as it used to be and she is stuck in a daily routine that is wearing her out.

Claire lives a life I think many of use are living. Me included. I love my marriage but it is the same everyday. We have the same routines, the same boring lives. Claire is determained to get out of this life one way or another an takes control of her life no matter what the outcome is.

This books helps us open our eyes and realize we all need to spice our lifes up. We need to get out of this rut and enjoy our lives and marriage a little more.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone that needs a good laugh, an eye opener, and to realize it is time to do something about our same day to day marriage.

A Merry Heart

By Wanda E. Brunstetter

Miriam Stolzfus was once filled with wonderful dreams for a future with a man she’d loved since childhood-unitl he moved away and married someone else, leaving her heart a bitter shell. Now, Miriam is known in her community as the “old maid” schoolteacher with a “heart of stone.”

Amos Hilty wants to court Miriam, but she’s certain that he only wants a mother for his daughter and a wife for conventience. Her heart warms to a more interesting friendsiop in the form of Nick McCormick, a newspaper reporter outside her Amish Faith, who is easy to talk to – and, incredibly, makes her smile again.

Will Miriam ever let go of her bitter spirtit and surrender her will to God? Or will she leave the Amish faith and find what she longs for in the outside world.

As I started out the book I found it very heart to get into. It was slow reading from the start but about 1/4 of the way through the book picks up and then became very hard to put down.

Mariam is a very bitter unhappy person and does not ever want to marry or fall in love again. She sees Amos around but is always trying to avoid him and his daughter. She is very bitter toward him through most of th book and you are sure she is never going to warm up to him.

Nick on the other hand she runs into and seems to have an instant connection. She seems to think about Nick and really seems to enjoy his company. She calls on Nick when ever she needs someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. Nick pursues Mariam and is very interested in her.

Will Nick and Mariam End up together or will she give into to Amos and marry him because she feels it is the only thing to do. You will not know until the last minute.

Then the unexpected…. while free diving in Jamaica, Trent Failed to return to the surface of the azure waters of the Blue Lagoon. The search began. The next morning, as she struggles to comprhend her inconveivable loss, terrorist attacked America. Suddenly the whole world was turned upside down.

Alone, overwhelmed, and far from home, Tammy found a lifelind of hope connecting her to God’s enduring love and incomprehensible strength.

I seen Tammy Trent for the first time Women of Faith a couple years ago and I have to tell you she is one of the most powerful and amazing Christian Speakers and singers around.

As I read this book, I laughted and I cried. This brought into prospective just how God is always there with you no matter what. God provides for you and just when you think you are all alone God shows and surrounds you with his love.

Tammy makes you realize just how amazing the life you are living is. How to not take things for granted. Tammy really helped me open my eyes to just how wonderful and amazing my husband is and that I should always cherish my husband because we never know what Gods Plan for us has in store for us.

Tammy opens up her heart and lets you into her world of love, and faith. Tammy shows you that no matter little something may seem enjoy it and love it. She helps you realize that your life is not over when you loose someone you love. But instead to she teaches you that you can start breathing again and that every day gets a little bit easier.

I would suggest this Book to you no matter what walk of life you are in right now because Tammy will teach you to learn to breath again.

I was glad to find out that this book was part of a squeal.
