Capture the Simple Peace of the Amish in Your Own Life

You don’t have to become Amish to make personal peace a reality. Organized around five central themes in Amish life, Amish Peace shows you how you can cultivate a simple life of love, gratitude, and faith in the midst of a very complicated world. It includes real-life stories and examples of Plain People, Amish proverbs, and fascinating facts about Amish communities. Each section also contains questions for reflection and action, outlining things you can do in your own life that “make for peace.”

I have always been facinated by the Amish and the peace that they seem to have. This book was an amazing read full of real life stories and lessons. Each section is broken down into different parts, such as:

Simplicity

Time

Community

Forgiveness

and the Sovereignty of God

After each story there is a small reflections on time where they talk about the story and then give you questions to think about which I really loved because it made me pounder more on the story and how I could make my life more simple and at peace.

They also have a section after the story that is called plain living that compares our world to the plain living world of the Amish.

The whole book is about living simple and how you can do little things to live simplier in your life.

Suzanne makes me feel like I really could live part of the Amish Life.

If you are wanting to relax and unwind and just try to live a little simplier in this complicated world then I would suggest Amish Living.

Looking for adventure, Kate Evans found much more than she was looking for!

Being an independent and adventurous young woman, Kate’s pioneering spirit makes her dream of being an Alaskan Bush pilot. The main problem is… she is the only woman in this male-dominated career. Fly along with Kate as she battles the Alaskan arctic storms and the even-stormier thoughts and expectations of others as she attempts this adventure. Will her fears inhibit her from seeing her dreams come true?

Then, it gets even more interesting, as author Bonnie Leon cleverly weaves in a tale of romance amidst the swirling Alaskan winds. Far from her Washington State home, Kate’s life intersects with that of a man living alone in the wilderness. His mysteriousness and adventurous life-style draws Kate in. Will she ever be able to get through the thick walls he has protecting his heart?

In this first book in the Alaskan Skies Series, there is enough suspense and emotion to excite and entertain you from cover to cover. You will find yourself anxiously awaiting book number two!

Shawn Collins has just returned home from fighting in Europe. His desire now is to stay home with son, Patrick and aging father and to grieve the loss of his wife in private. But that is not to be as he is called upon yet once again to serve his country – as a speaker on the war bond tour taking him away from his family. Not knowing how this decision will impact his life, Shawn asks Katherine Townsend to be Patrick’s nanny while he’s away.

Could this be the key to happiness in his future? Could this mend his broken heart? Or will once again the war threaten any change for a new start for Shawn?

This is a story that everyone can relate to. Added to it, it is set in the 1850’s Texas frontier. This second book in the Texas Dreams series again weaves a beautiful tale of drama, love, and second chances.

As Priscilla Morton longs for adventure, she leaves Boston in 1856 and journeys to the Texas Hill Country. She was looking for adventure and when she finds it, she did not realize how heartbreaking it could be. She meets ranch foreman, Zachary Webster, who is a cowboy haunted by his past mistakes. Although he would love to be the love of Priscilla’s life, he feels she deserves better, like an East Coast gentleman she was used to back home.

During desperate times, however, Zach and Priscilla find themselves drawn together and begin to build a promising life, until the past intrudes. This tale of loss and devastation, which along with it come healing, forgiveness, and second chances, all intertwined with faith, is sure to be a pleaser. We have all felt these emotions at one point or another in our lives and it is joyous to see them work out so miraculously, in the way that only God can make happen.
